Ladonna Lewis

I am a faculty member in the Psychology at Glendale Community College in Glendale Arizona. Because I am currently employed by a two-year institution research, research is not expected; however, I do have an ongoing program of applied research focusing on Adult Probation Officers. We are interested in the impact of the job on the officers. There are many ways that probation officers are similar to police officers, however there are many more ways that they are unique. Most of the research on job impact in law enforcement has be conducted with police officers as participants. We have collected job impact data from approx. 350 probation officers in five states. The information we have learned is being shared with probation departments to help them better prepare their officers of the potential job impact, and also to help them cope with incidents as they arise.
